Conserve Energy! Part 2 of 2
Conserve Work energy that is. Why do extra work. A few items easily overlooked can save a person a heap of trouble.
Of course, the old standby to not put grease down the drains still stands. If you happen to inadvertently get some grease down the drains, use this hot water trick. Stop up the sinks and fill with scalding hot tap water. Unstop the sinks and let a continuous flow of scalding hot water run through the drain until you run out of hot water from your hot water heater. Now your water drains should be free and clean of sludge.
Moving to new electric conduits, the subject of putting lights in a horse barn comes up. In a metal barn, remember that horses can chew through conduits so they need to be encased as well as placed at least 10 feet high. There is more flexibility in placement of the electric conduits when you build a wooden horse barn, however.
Finally, now is the time to buy those plywood sheets that last year cost 23 dollars. Today they are 10 dollars. Why not stockpile them for summer projects. I’ll bet contractors would be happy to help you with your building projects using your own lumber. They are just happy for the work right now.
